Dunnetts Farm Barn - The Grounds

The Grounds

Guests are welcome to walk around and explore the surrounding 16 acres, although for reasons of safety we insist all children are closely supervised.

Please note all exploration and outdoor activities undertaken by Guests are done so at entirely their own risk and the Owners will not accept any liability in this regard.

Dunnetts Farm was last farmed (as part of a 300+ acre commercial farm) back in the 1990's. Today the only farming activity is the rotation of a few sheep around the meadows to keep the grass cut.

The 16 acres of land is managed with the objective of 'wilding' to create the best environment for wildlife.

There are three ponds within the grounds: the wildlife pond set within the garden area (up to ½ metre deep) with small fish, amphibians and a magnet for thirsty birds; the large pond with boathouse and jetty (approximately 1 ½ metres deep) that attracts a number of swimming birds and animals; and a more traditional 'Suffolk' pond (approximately 3 metres deep) situated between the lower and middle fields.

Given the close proximity of the Wildlife Pond to the Barn accommodation it is recommended young children are closely supervised – in addition you can request the placement of a temporary picket fence to restrict direct access.

During the warmer summer months the owners cut some strips of meadow grass to create a 'rudimentary' Pitch and Putt course. It has to be emphasized that this course is not for the serious golfer, but rather the aspiring amateur who just wants to 'have a go'.
